Dr Ayrton Goddard is a kind and welcoming GP who performs no-scalpel vasectomies as part of his GP work at Rokeby GP, Subiaco.
Dr Ayrton prides himself on his consulting style: communicating clearly with patients, answering questions honestly and considerately, while running on time.

No-scalpel vasectomies (NSVs) with Dr Goddard are carried out under local anaesthesia (an injection into the area being operated on to numb it). You will feel movement and pressure during the procedure but should not experience significant pain. Some discomfort after the procedure is to be expected, but this will vary between individuals.
Yes. You stay awake for the procedure. You can listen to music, talk to the operating team, or watch a show on your mobile phone: whatever helps you feel relaxed!
Yes, this is possible. If you would like your partner to be present, this can be accommodated. Please discuss this at the time of your initial consultation with Dr Ayrton Goddard.
No. You must wait until you have had a semenalysis after the vasectomy to confirm whether or not the procedure was successful. This is performed 12 weeks after the procedure. You must use additional contraceptive measures until the vasectomy is confirmed successful.
Most people, when they have had no additional medication other than the local anaesthetic, and when they feel 100% recovered after the procedure, are able to drive themselves home after the procedure.
However, there are certain medications which may be used and mean you can't drive home - always discuss your own specific treatment plan at the initial consultation.
The post-vasectomy semenalysis test (performed after 12 weeks to check if the procedure has been a success) carries an additional out-of-pocket fee (payable to the laboratory performing the test).
No. Vasectomy only stops the sperm cells from being added to the ejaculatory fluid. Vasectomy does not noticeably reduce the volume of ejaculatory fluid produced.
Hormones (such as testosterone) are released into the bloodstream by the testes, and this is not affected by vasectomy.
In general terms, no. Vasectomies do not interfere with the blood supply to the penis, the nerve supply to the penis, or the testosterone hormone produced by the testes. Erections should therefore be unaffected by vasectomy.
