No-scalpel vasectomies?

  • No-scalpel vasectomies use an electrocautery device to cut and cauterise the scrotal skin when making the initial incision through the scrotum.
  • The vas deferens are then delivered one at a time through a small hole in the front of the scrotum.
  • The layers are carefully stripped off the vas using special surgical forceps.
  • The electrocautery device is then used to remove a section of the vas tubes, and also seal the inside of the tubes.

  • The no-scalpel vasectomy method has shorter operating times, and lower complication rates compared to traditional incisional/scalpel vasectomies.
